Marnus Labuschagne Omitted from Australian One-Day International Squad Versus Team India
Marnus Labuschagne has been dropped from the three-match ODI series facing India, as high-performing Queensland teammate Matt Renshaw earning a unexpected selection.
Recent Form Lead to Omission
Labuschagne has been omitted from the ODI team following scoring just one run in each of his two innings during the recent series against South Africa in August. Labuschagne has a best innings of forty-seven in his most recent ten ODI batting appearances.
The batsman has played 68 one-day internationals and scored 1,871 ODI runs at an average of 34.64, but will now focus on earning a return to the Test side in time for the Ashes beginning in Perth on November 21.
Renshaw's Return and Other Squad Changes
There have been indications of a resurgence with 160 for Queensland in the Sheffield Shield this week, while Renshaw scored a century for the Bulls in the same game against Tasmania.
The left-hander may to make his first white-ball appearance in the forthcoming series against India after last being included in an ODI squad in 2022.
The left-hander has played 14 Test matches with the last coming in India in 2023 but is also aiming for a Test return as Australia seek a solution to their batting top-order problems.

Fast bowler Mitchell Starc is back for the ODI series against India after taking a break since starring for Australia in the clean sweep of West Indies in July.
Big Bash star Mitch Owen could make his ODI debut after being concussed in the lead up to Australia’s previous 50-over series against South Africa.
Skipper Pat Cummins remains on the sidelines as he hopes to heal from a back injury by the time to lead Australia in the opening Test of the Ashes in November.
Team Announcement Approach and Schedule
Australia have named a squad for only the initial two T20 matches against India with the upcoming Ashes series, although Glenn Maxwell will sit out the five-match series due to a wrist injury suffered in New Zealand.
Mitch Marsh will skipper both the ODI and T20 sides after smashing a century in the last match against New Zealand to clinch a two-nil victory last week.
“We have named a squad for the ODI series and initial two matches of the T20 series as there will be rotation through the back end of the series as players get ready for the summer through Sheffield Shield cricket,” Australia chair of selectors George Bailey said.
“The bulk of the T20 squad will remain together as it’s an crucial phase in the preparation for the T20 World Cup next year, however we are aiming to find equilibrium to ensure we simultaneously prepare certain individuals for the Test matches ahead.”
Australia’s three-match ODI series against India begins on 19 October in Perth, before the opponents play five T20 internationals from October 29.
