Shocking Footage Captures Instant Law Enforcement Are Stabbed in Unexpected Assault
A police sergeant who rushed to the assistance of a fellow officer who was ambushed by a knife attacker was granted the Royal Recognition for Courage.
Sgt Tim Ansell fought with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he held a weapon to the neck of his colleague Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown launched his attack as the policemen and their third officer, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a motorist following a vehicle incident in the area in summer 2023.
Brown knifed and cut both Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft stunned him with a electric weapon.
"Policeman attacked," PC Wolstencroft was heard to say over his radio.
Officer-mounted and vehicle camera video released by the force depicted Brown, wearing in dark clothing with a head covered, approach to Sgt Foster from the rear with a knife extended.
He struck the officer who stumbled and dropped to the ground, after which Sgt Ansell intervened and tried to wrestle him to the ground despite being continually attacked with the blade.
Police Constable Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and awaited a open target, bringing the fight to an end.
Sergeant Ansell can be heard to say: "Please provide assistance on my neck now, I'm bleeding in the neck."
Sergeant Ansell sustained multiple lacerations to his neck and further wounds to his arms and torso, while Sgt Foster experienced cut injuries.
The department reported Sgt Foster utilized his palms to control his colleague's bleeding prior to medical personnel reached the scene.
The new award arrives subsequent to the trio of policemen received organizational Bravery Awards in October 2023 and the police federation award from the area union branch in April 2024.
They further earned a Regional Courage Honor in mid-2024.
"The efforts of all three officers eventually protected one another and meant no civilians suffered any wounds."
Brown received a sentence to an secure medical confinement in early 2024, per authorities.
